Johnny Rampant: Premium Fantasy Miniatures

Hi, I'm Johnny.

I'm a creature artist and character designer.

After more than fifteen years creating creatures and characters for major hollywood studios like Weta and Industrial Light & Magic I've spent my career bringing other people's characters and stories to life. Now I'm excited to finally share some of my own creatures with you.
Each Model is built entirely by hand, from the first 3D sketch through to the final resin print. No AI or shortcuts. Just years of experience, imagination and craft.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

What followed was a complete change in direction.

Years later, after a career in film and visual effects, Johnny Rampant became my chance to create something of my own.

Instead of helping tell other people's stories, I now create characters that painters and collectors can give life to themselves.

The final chapter belongs to you.

── MY STORY ──

I remember in 2001, watching The Lord of the Rings, seeing the Cave Troll and thinking:
"I could do that for a living."

I spent the first half of my life in construction, building everything from houses, bridges, tunnels and high-rise projects.

In 2010, I lost my younger brother and that was the catalyst for change, I realised I couldn't ignore art was the thing I'd wanted to do all my life.

Every character starts differently.
Sometimes it's a silhouette.
Sometimes it's a pose.
Sometimes it's a single frame narrative.
From there I start broad strokes designing, looking for that anatomy, personality and story until the character feels like someone who actually exists

── THE PROCESS ──

── THE STUDIO ──

Digital sculpting, traditional art, 3D printing, painting and constant experimentation all come together inside the studio.

Most characters go through dozens of iterations before reaching their final form. It's a process of exploration, problem solving and refinement that never really stops.
